black mountain college
The Black Mountain College establishes itself as the meeting ground for experimental teachings at the interface of art and science in the USA. In our design we choose the 'communicative table' as a symbolic carrier of these teaching methods for the exhibition. A table does not define boundaries. Although it takes up physical space, it leaves the inclusion of its surrounding space open. As a bearer of the various time lines and activities, it switches its position in the exhibition room and reacts to the demands of the historical documentation and performative actions. The three thematic focus points (the influence of European immigrants, the transdisciplinary teachings and the performative stations) are curatorially devided into seven topics and implemented by us in the design of the exhibition in the following manner: Originals and performances are presented as exhibits on the table and through integration on the tablesurface, video interviews and films are projected on the inside and on the outside of the cube walls that are placed in the exhibition, enlarged reproductions are presented on the surrounding walls of the exhibition hall.
